Rip off! We bought 7 planters. Planted tomatoes, green peppers and squash. The plants grew beautifully but yielded not one single tomato, green pepper or squash.

I bought the Topsy Turvy. The top has an opening which allows birds to get in. Both my friend and I had brid nest with 4 eggs in them. Hummm, maybe a screen over this hole could solve that problem. Needless to say, we couldn't water our plants and kill the birds, so our plants died.

I actually purchased topsy turvey from Home Depot for 9.99, this way I could by-pass shipping and pick out my plants/topsoil same day. I really didn't need the tomato slicer or recipe guide as I am an experienced cook. I purchased two, planted a tomato plant and a red bell pepper plant a month and a half ago in north Georgia, and both are growing fine. You do need to read directions thouroghly and make sure you buy soil very low in nitrogen for the tomatoes, otherwise you will make lots of foliage and little fruit. Also it advertises you get big plants growing like crazy, but when you read the directions, it suggests putting two plants together and strongly suggests fertilizer. So it seems to me the tv ad pushed it's planters a bit hard, when in actuality the tomatoes seen were two plants in one, well fertilized. My plants so far haven't had enough time to yield any fruit, but so far, so good! I have a condo and the planters work quite well on my balcony in full sun.
